Updated Guide for Foreign Patients Visiting Korea (June 2022)

Covid-19 Regulations

  • Visitors are no longer required to quarantine after arrival regardless of their vaccination history.
  • Visitors are still required to undergo 2 covid tests (before and after arrival).
    • Visitors must either take a PCR test 48 hours before their flight or a RAT administered by a professional 24 hours before their flight.
    • After arrival, they must undergo a PCR test within 3 days of their arrival date.
    • You may do a PCR test at the airport by paying a fee of 80,000 KRW, or you may do the PCR date at a public health center for free.
  • Waiting time will be reduced if visitors use the Q-code system.
  • If you arrive in Korea more than a week before your appointment at EU, we still require a RAT done by a professional (self-tests are not valid).

Visas

Visitors coming into Korea must have a valid, non-expired passport and a valid, non-expired visa. The visa must correlate with the intent of your visit. EU patients who have a confirmed surgery date must apply for a medical tourist visa (C-3-3). If you require proof of surgery from EU to apply for the visa, we are happy to provide you with a letter to take to the embassy. For prospective patients who have only made a consultation appointment but not a set surgery date, they can apply for a tourist visa.

Visa exceptions:

  • Visitors who are re-entering Korea using their multiple-entry visa need not reapply for a visa.
  • Visitors from countries with visa exemption agreements.

K-ETA

As of September 2021, visitors from visa-exempt countries are required to apply for a K-ETA at least 72 hours before their flight. K-ETAs are valid for 2 years after the date of issue, so you may apply for it in advance.

Each visa-exempt country has differing period of stay. You can check how long you will be allowed to stay through this link. The application fee for K-ETA is 10,000 KRW.
