The reason I decided to get surgery
I decided to go through with the surgery because I was concerned about my facial asymmetry, long face, and uneven facial contours.
Why I chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
A friend of mine had double jaw surgery at EU and had amazing results, so I didn’t hesitate after seeing how well it turned out, I knew I wanted to have my surgery at EU too! 😄
Day 1–2
Honestly, I was just praying for time to pass quickly.
My nose was completely blocked, so I had to breathe only through my mouth. I kept telling myself things like, “I’m on a Swiss hilltop breathing fresh air... I can get through this!” basically doing self-hypnosis to stay positive.
More than the pain from the actual bone-cutting (which honestly wasn’t that bad compared to other surgeries), the hardest part was the fear and discomfort of not being able to breathe properly. So I made sure to take slow, deep breaths and kept my mindset positive.
I was discharged on Day 2 right away.
My nose cleared up just a tiny bit more than Day 1, but I still had to breathe through my mouth.
My face kept swelling so much that even Anpanman would be jealous. 😂 They told me it’d keep getting puffier until around Day 5 or 6. 😭
It already feels super tight, so if it swells even more, I might just float up into the sky! 😅
But the midface was reduced by about 4.5mm, so my face definitely looks smaller love that! 😄
My face kept swelling more and more.
I tried to breathe through my nose, but whenever it got blocked again, I switched back to mouth breathing while doing my best to align my lower teeth to the wafer. But honestly... it’s tough. 😢 Still, I’m hanging in there and doing my best every day! 💪
Day 6–7
But since there’s still a lot of swelling, my pronunciation is still a bit slurred when I talk.
I can open my mouth about two fingers wide now.
Really hoping it goes down soon... 🙏
For food, I’ve been eating things like soft steamed eggs, New Care (nutritional drink), and soft tofu. Not being able to chew definitely lowers my quality of life, but I keep reminding myself it’s all part of the process to become prettier, and I will get through it! 💪✨
Right now, my pronunciation still sounds a bit off when I speak, so I’m planning to keep practicing facial movements and mouth-opening exercises diligently! 😊
1 Month Post-Op
The swelling in my face has continued to go down little by little.
My speech isn’t perfect yet, but I can talk so much more comfortably now—and that alone feels amazing! 😄
I still have some numbness, so sometimes I don’t even notice when something’s on my face 😂 but it’s definitely improving bit by bit!
The doctor said things will keep getting better with time, so I’m just patiently waiting and healing. 😊
The swelling inside my mouth has gone down too, so I’ve been trying to fit two fingers in while practicing opening my mouth. It’s still a bit tough, but I can do it—and that makes me so happy!
Recovery seems to be going better and faster than I expected!! 💪✨
2 Months Post-Op
Can’t believe it’s already been two months since my double jaw surgery!
The swelling hasn’t completely gone yet, but my facial lines are definitely looking much better! 😊
I heard that the major swelling goes down within the first 2 weeks, and the mid-level swelling takes around 3 months to really subside—so I’m already excited to see how much more improvement I’ll see in the coming weeks!
Huge thanks again to Dr. Kim Jong-yun for performing the surgery so safely and beautifully! 💖
