A short chin can also be called a "receded chin." The upper jaw is usually more developed which in return, can make the chin's appearance look smaller. The ratio of the chin will be significantly shorter compared to the forehead and the middle part of the face.
Short Chin Surgery
This procedure aims to improve the symptoms of a short chin and receding lower jaw (micrognathia). Along with a short chin, malocclusion is also present in most cases. This is due to the upper and lower occlusion not matching and resulting in a vague chin line.
Surgery Method
In order to enhance the appearance of the chin, the method of surgery can be done by orthognathic surgery or chin surgery. A thorough diagnosis must be made first to find out if the issue is caused by factors such as malocclusion or the lower jaw. Double jaw surgery may be necessary in order to correct the lower jaw and relocate the position.
