What is facial asymmetry?
Facial asymmetry is referred to cases where the central line of the face is twisted due to the imbalance between the left and the right side of the face. In case there is an imbalance between the left and the right side of the face while having different left and right jawlines, in case only the left and right jaw lines differ, and in case where there is also a lantern jaw or protruded mouth, the appropriate surgical method must be chosen considering the underlying causes for the facial asymmetry.
Facial asymmetry surgical method
1) Double jaw surgery for facial asymmetry
Depending on the circumstances, double jaw surgery for facial asymmetry involves performing surgery to repositioning the lower jaw only. But if there is an issue with the inclination of the upper jaw, then the surgery is performed by cutting the upper jaw horizontally and positioning it to arrive at the desired inclination, and then by moving the lower jaw to the center given the position of the upper jaw.
2) Chin surgery for facial asymmetry
After performing facial asymmetry double jaw surgery, chin surgery is performed to correct for any remaining asymmetry.
